What Can I Expect From My First Visit?

You will need to allow about an hour for your initial consultation. Initially, your chiropractor will take a thorough medical case history, followed by a full orthopedic, neurological, and postural examination. This includes the whole of the spine and/or all relevant joints.

Good Posture vs Bad Posture

Based on the findings, a diagnosis will be formulated. You will then be given a “Report of Findings” in which your chiropractor will explain everything to you in detail - what’s causing your symptoms, what can be done about it, and an estimate of how much treatment may be required to get you feeling better, and on the road to recovery.

Your tailored treatment plan will include hands-on chiropractic adjustments, to improve joint function & alignment, as well as relieve pain and muscle spasm. We will also give you home exercises, postural, lifestyle, and dietary advice. This will further help in getting you better, keeping you well, and avoid future relapses.

Chiropractic works by identifying the underlying cause of your pain, and correcting it.  In most cases, we can get started with treatment (the first set of adjustments) right away.

Chiropractic is suitable for all ages from young teenagers to the elderly, pregnant women, "couch potatoes", sports enthusiasts, and everyone in between. Thus, treatment is modified accordingly to your needs.

In some cases, further investigations (such as X-rays, MRIs or blood tests) are required for a differential diagnosis or to rule out pathology. Should that apply to your case, we will sort these out for you, explain the results fully, and proceed further as clinically indicated.

Please note that when the chiropractor has made a diagnosis he or she will decide whether the condition is suitable for chiropractic treatment. If you require other medical or multidisciplinary treatment, or if Chiropractic is not the best option for you, we will inform you and help you choose the best way forward. Your chiropractor will always tell you if he or she can not help you, and refer you to the relevant specialist.

On subsequent visits, the adjustments (treatment) usually take about 15 minutes, depending on your condition and the amount that you require. How many adjustments you need depends on numerous factors such as the nature of your problem, how long you’ve had it, how severe it is, how your body responds, and how much of the advice given you take on board!

Depending on the case, some patients may be advised to opt for maintenance / preventative treatment, once they’re much better, and on the road to recovery. Receiving periodic check-ups keeps your spine joints in good working order. It’s a bit like getting your teeth checked periodically at the dentist, or having your car MOT’d!

We have the expertise to offer a wide variety of solutions and a fresh approach to tackle both acute and chronic problems.

So, don't put up with pain anymore! Give us a call and find out what chiropractic can do for you.
